When every escalation, technical question, status request and internal dependency eventually lands with the same person, the natural response is to make that person more productive.
Better task management helps. Better prioritisation helps. AI assistants help. But none of them change the architecture of the work.
Overload is often a routing problem
One person becomes the connection between the customer, support, product, engineering and sales. The organisation then interprets overload as an individual capacity problem.
A more scalable model starts by deciding how work comes in, who owns it, when it should be escalated and what information is required. AI can then support classification, routing and follow-up.
The question is not how to help one person process an unlimited queue faster. It is why the unlimited queue exists in the first place.
AI contribution: AI-4. The core direction came from the Opscale post-sales thesis; AI produced most of this early draft. This article will be revisited against the Opscale Editorial System.
